Joanna assists clients in contentious and non-contentious matters concerning the full range of intellectual property rights.
Joanna has been a member of the IP team at Stevens & Bolton since 2013, qualifying as a solicitor in July 2017. In 2022 she obtained the widely respected Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford.
Joanna has particularly active life sciences and brand protection practices, regularly advising on the drafting and negotiation of complex global patent licence agreements and managing online brand enforcement programmes for a number of key clients. She also handles trade mark, copyright and design right infringement disputes before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and the High Court.
Recent highlights include:
- Providing IP licensing support to major pharmaceutical companies, including a global biotechnology company, with the drafting and negotiation of complex cross-border patent and know-how licence agreements
- Advising a Premier League football club on brand enforcement matters including an ongoing online monitoring and takedown programme
- Lead associate in advising an Italian luxury chocolate manufacturer in relation to trade mark infringement and successfully obtaining a Europe-wide injunction
- Assisting a well-known coffee shop chain on a number of domain name complaints
Joanna has written articles for a number of legal and industry publications including TMT News and IQ Magazine. She is also a member of IPSoc.
