Stevens & Bolton advises Byrne Group P.L.C. on strategic investment

Stevens & Bolton LLP has advised specialist concrete frame and building contractors Byrne Group, on a strategic investment by Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon (WBHO), one of the biggest construction groups operating in South Africa.

Established in the 1960’s, Byrne Group offers clients a complete integrated construction service, from formwork to fit-out.  They have been involved with some of the most iconic projects across London, including The Shard development, the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, the Cutty Sark at Greenwich and Wimbledon Centre Court.

WBHO has three main operating divisions, Building Construction, Civil Engineering and Roads and Earthworks, with major construction project experience in South Africa, the Middle East and various islands in the Indian Ocean.

Paul Foley, WBHO’s Group Building Managing Director, and Charles Henwood, WBHO’s Financial Director, will join the Byrne Group board.

Daren Harris, Finance Director at Byrne Group commented: “This was an important transaction to support the future growth of the Byrne Group.  The business and its shareholders were impressed with the S&B team whose commercialism, pragmatism and hard work were pivotal to concluding the deal.”

The Stevens & Bolton team was led by Jonathan Porteous, supported by Chris Benjamin and Zara Matthews (corporate), Matthew Padian (banking) and Sarah Kirwan (real estate).
