Stevens & Bolton announces new partner promotions

Stevens & Bolton has today announced the promotion of two new partners to its all-equity partnership.

Effective from 1 April 2025, James Floyd (corporate) and Sean Hilton (family) have been promoted, strengthening the firm’s offering across key practice areas in support of clients both in the UK and internationally. These promotions bring the total number of all-equity partners at the firm to 50 following two recent successful lateral partner hires.

James is an experienced corporate lawyer who advises public and private companies, asset managers, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions, both domestic and cross-border. His promotion reflects his extensive experience in handling intricate corporate matters and his ability to guide clients through complex business transactions with precision and strategic insight.

Sean advises clients on a broad range of family matters, ranging from complex, high-value financial proceedings following divorce to disputes concerning children. He also advises unmarried families on the legal consequences of relationship breakdowns and frequently handles pre- and post-nuptial agreements with international elements. Sean has a particular specialism in advising third parties—such as trustees—seeking to protect assets that are subject to matrimonial proceedings. His experience in this niche area includes a reported case in the Court of Appeal.

Commenting on the promotions, James Waddell, Managing Partner, said: “We are thrilled to welcome James and Sean to our partnership. Their expertise, dedication, and client-focused approach make them invaluable members of our team. Congratulations to both on this well-deserved achievement.”

These appointments are part of a wider round of internal promotions, which also see Lorna Sleave (commercial litigation) and Lucy Trott (restructuring and insolvency) promoted to managing associate, and Chantelle De Filippis (employment), Kate Hamson-Maguire (intellectual property), Rebecca Hunt (corporate), Lauren Melnyk (construction and engineering), Elizabeth Pistak (commercial litigation), and Rachel Wright (commercial and technology) promoted to senior associate.

“We are incredibly proud of our talented colleagues and their continued contributions to the firm,” added Waddell. “Each promotion reflects our commitment to fostering exceptional legal talent and delivering outstanding client service.”

These promotions reinforce Stevens & Bolton’s continued growth and dedication to investing in its people, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of legal excellence.
