Nick trained and worked with Clifford Turner (now part of Clifford Chance) before joining Stevens & Bolton LLP in 1991. He became a partner in 1992.
Nick’s knowledge and expertise extends to practically all tax and trust matters, including UK and offshore trusts; tax planning for non-UK domiciliaries; employee benefit trusts; tax planning for company shareholders; International succession issues and complex wills and estates.
He is listed as a leading tax and trust lawyer in the Chambers UK legal directory and by the publication ‘Legal Experts’ as an expert in private client work. Nick is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and lectures on taxation and the use of trusts. In 2005, he was invited to become an editor of a section of the Oxford Dictionary of Law, New Edition.
In Chambers HNW 2018, he is described as "totally honest, trustworthy and decent" by one source, while others say: "The minute you meet him, you do feel quite confident that he's going to be able to solve any problem you come up against. He has that manner about him, that experience." He is also considered in Chambers 2017 to have "extremely strong technical knowledge, but he can also transmit such information to clients in a straightforward way".
