Stevens & Bolton is delighted to announce that James Lister, partner and head of the firm’s contentious trusts and estates practice, has been named as ‘one to watch’ in the Private Client Global Elite listing for 2019.

The listing, published by Legal Week, serves as a highly respected global directory of the world’s top private client, trusts and estates litigation talent, as well as rising stars within the industry. The directory is used by the legal community looking for referrals, family offices and professional advisers.

This adds to a number of other major industry accolades for James during the past few months, including being shortlisted ‘Lawyer of the Year – Partner (Regional)’ at CityWealth magazine’s Future Leader Awards 2019 (awards due in November) and recognised as one of the ‘top contentious advisers outside London’ in the 2019 Spear’s 500 listing.

James joined Stevens & Bolton in 2017 and was made a partner in 2019. He is a specialist trust and estates litigator, with particular expertise in disputes focussing on UK trust and probate claims. He advises primarily on disputes relating to HNW and UHNW individuals and their affairs, both on and offshore. Within this, James has substantial experience in advising trustees and beneficiaries on trust claims and also on contested probate matters. James regularly advises clients on claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and concerning disputes over estate and trust administration. James also has expertise in contested Court of Protection matters, with disputes involving attorneys and Deputies, in particular regarding applications to remove or appoint attorneys/Deputies and applications for statutory wills.
