Kate is an agile and collaborative lawyer.

Since joining Stevens & Bolton in 2017, she has worked with multinational companies and innovative start-ups to navigate the legal and commercial complexity inherent in IP commercialisation and dispute resolution.

Kate has a particular interest in assisting clients in the life sciences and technology sectors and has cultivated significant expertise advising on IP licensing and acquisitions, infringement disputes and brand management. She takes a confident and pragmatic approach to supporting clients through complex negotiations and disputes.

A thoughtful and straightforward communicator, Kate is adept at clearly explaining the practical application of intellectual property law. She provides strategic advice to businesses on IP protection, enforcement and exploitation – helping them balance commercial and legal considerations to build successful brands and accelerate innovation.

  • Supported a global biotechnology company in negotiating complex cross-border research agreements and commercial licences with major pharmaceutical companies in respect of its valuable patented technology;
  • Acted for a major distribution company in a dispute relating to the misappropriation of a significant volume of its confidential information;
  • Advised an international maritime solutions company on the IP aspects of an asset acquisition, including a high-value collaboration agreement;
  • Represented a leading equestrian brand in a dispute concerning the infringement of its trade marks and copyright by a competitor;
  • Advised a prominent Champagne house on minimising legal risks prior to the publication of a new UK marketing campaign;
  • Supported a global insurance business in executing its international trade mark filing strategy to protect its brand in key jurisdictions.
  • Kate is a graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London and the University of Law. She obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Oxford in 2022.
  • Kate is a member of the AIPPI and IPSoc. She has written articles for legal and industry publications and contributes to the firm’s patent licensing podcast.
