About

Lucy is a responsive and capable lawyer with particular expertise in contentious insolvency instructions.

Lucy joined Stevens & Bolton in 2015 from an international law firm, where she trained and qualified as a restructuring and insolvency lawyer. She has considerable experience in resolving claims against company directors (including fraud-based claims), making applications for and in the context of administration, navigating cross-border insolvency, CVA challenge applications and she has a wealth of bankruptcy experience too.

Lucy provides clear strategic advice to directors of distressed business to mitigate their potential liabilities. She has experience acting on restructurings including pre-pack administrations, corporate simplification, and advancing plans for business wind down including liquidation, strike off and dissolution. Lucy also deals with creditor enforcement action under contracts, security and guarantees, including validity reviews and the appointment of administrators and receivers.

Lucy is passionate about diversity and inclusion and leads the Guildford Women in Business network which connects professional women living and working in the Guildford area.

  • Advised Gama Aviation on the pre-pack purchase of an air ambulance business out of administration, ensuring the seamless continuity of air ambulances services across London and the South of England;
  • Acted for provisional liquidators in Botswana and Bermuda to obtain recognition of their appointment in the UK under the Cross Border Insolvency Regulations 2006;
  • Launched an application to challenge a complex CVA involving indebtedness of EUR 5 billion euro across a worldwide group;
  • Acting on the appointment of administrators over a group of holiday parks, including advising on the legitimacy of complex competing creditor claims;
  • Pursuing claims on behalf of the Trustees in Bankruptcy of two bankrupts who sought to put their property into a sham trust to defraud their creditors.

Lucy is ranked as a Leading Associatein Legal 500 and is a contributor to legal and industry publications such as Practical Law, Lexis+, the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law, Fraud Intelligence and the World Financial Review. She has also been quoted in media outlets including The Times, City AM, and the i newspaper.
