About

Matthew is a pragmatic and approachable lawyer who helps clients in good times and bad.

He advises clients to finance transactions, including those involving loans to fund company acquisitions, purchase or develop real estate, or to fund a company’s trading or working capital requirements.

Matthew also helps clients to resolve their financial difficulties, restructure their debts and to undertake corporate reorganisations. This can involve working with or opposite insolvency practitioners for clients that buy or sell businesses in distressed circumstances, or which are looking to resolve financial difficulties by undertaking a formal insolvency procedure.

Matthew joined Stevens & Bolton in 2016 from an international law firm. He collaborates with individuals, companies and lenders of all types to build positive relationships and achieve successful outcomes.

    • Advising the Prax Group on its crude oil supply arrangements for Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery with Glencore Energy UK Ltd.
    • Helping Melrose Education to amend and increase its loan facilities with OakNorth Bank to support its acquisition of special education needs schools across England.
    • Acting for Boundary Real Estate Partners on various loan refinancings secured against investment properties within its portfolio.
    • Advising a senior secured creditor on the resolution of its claims against Real Contracting Group after the latter entered insolvency.
    • Part of the deal team which helped Pizza Hut Restaurants UK to launch a successful company voluntary arrangement as part of a wider restructuring.
