About

Mel is an approachable and capable adviser, specialising in business taxation and share schemes.

She originally joined Stevens & Bolton in 2019, arriving from a leading US firm where she built a practice advising the private equity funds industry and its portfolio investments. Since joining Stevens & Bolton, Mel has worked alongside a diverse range of clients, from individual entrepreneurs to large multi-national organisations. She provides pragmatic advice, specialising in helping her clients to navigate the technical nuances of the tax landscape. A significant portion of her work involves providing seamless tax support for both buy and sell-side corporatetransactions.

Working closely with her clients and their other advisers, Mel devises a variety of employee share schemes. She is known for her clear communication, collaborative working style and attention to detail.

Melanie is a member of the firm’s retail sector group and has authored a number of articles on topical tax matters.

  • Advising an international listed entertainment and media platform on its acquisitions of two UK businesses, including on the exercise of employee shares;
  • Advising the shareholders of a digital marketing agency on the sale of the company to an industry-leading technology platform;
  • Advising investors and investee companies on start-up equity fundraisings and availability of investor tax reliefs;
  • Designing and implementing a multi-jurisdiction employee share option scheme.
