CHAMBERS UK
Clients value our commercial acumen as much as our technical strength. When acting for lenders, we take care to understand the lender’s appreciation of the drivers on the transaction. We understand how banks’ internal processes operate and how they deal with risk, with a number of our lawyers having undertaken secondments in major UK banks and other financial institutions. We recognise the need to work in harmony with lenders’ internal procedures and standards. Our lender clients include most of the major UK clearing banks, along with a number of international financial institutions and a growing number of non-bank lenders.
When acting for borrowers, our experience in working for lenders is invaluable. We know the bank’s boundaries: what points they will not accept and what points they may agree. This knowledge makes the transaction process more efficient and allows clients to choose their battles and get the best outcome. Our clients on the borrower side range from large PLCs and private equity houses through to smaller SMEs, owner-managed businesses and start-up companies.
They are top in terms of commercial awareness; they have a very pragmatic approach to structuring and executing
