Valerie Fogleman, Consultant at Stevens & Bolton, has contributed a chapter to “A Research Agenda for Corporate Environmental Law”, edited by Colin Mackie and forthcoming from Edward Elgar Publishing.
The book brings together leading experts to explore the relationship between corporate law and environmental law, examining how legal and regulatory frameworks can help businesses respond to environmental challenges.
Chapters consider how corporate structures influence environmental behaviour, how regulation can strengthen businesses’ accountability to their stakeholders, and how business leaders’ decisions can better reflect environmental priorities.
Valerie’s chapter, “The continued expansion of the polluter pays principle and its application to corporations”, examines the principle’s expanding reach and its application to businesses.
Valerie specialises in environmental and insurance law, with a particular focus on environmental liabilities. Her experience includes advising national and international clients on share and asset transactions and preparing studies for the European Commission, including a detailed analysis of how the polluter pays principle applies to liability for environmental damage.
