About

Joanna is a forward thinking and agile lawyer.

Since joining Stevens & Bolton’s IP team in 2013 and qualifying as a solicitor in 2017, Joanna has built a wealth of experience advising on the full range of intellectual property rights. She assists clients in protecting their trade marks, copyright and design rights before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and the High Court, whilst also regularly advising on global patent licensing arrangements and international trade mark portfolio strategies.

Approachable and thoughtful, Joanna effectively engages with her clients to understand the wider picture so that commercial and legal needs can both be met in the most straightforward way. She provides clear advice to companies on their IP requirements for now and the future.

  • Providing IP licensing support to major pharmaceutical companies, including a global biotechnology company, with the drafting and negotiation of complex cross-border patent and know-how licence agreements;
  • Advising a global data analytics company on its international trade mark strategy to ensure protection in key target markets and assisting in securing appropriate trade mark registrations;
  • Supporting a global watch brand in relation to tackling global online copyright infringement;
  • Lead associate in advising an Italian luxury chocolate manufacturer in relation to trade mark infringement and successfully obtaining a Europe-wide injunction;
  • Advising a Premier League football club on brand enforcement matters including an ongoing international online monitoring and takedown programme.

In 2022 Joanna obtained the widely respected Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford.

We work together with our clients to clear obstacles rather than create them and in the process build relationships of trust and understanding.
