Corporate governance - NAPF publishes new guidance

The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) has published an updated version of its Corporate Governance Policy and Voting Guidelines to take account of the UK Corporate Governance Code, which replaced the Combined Code for premium listed companies for accounting periods beginning from 29 June this year. The main purpose of these guidelines is to assist investors in their interpretation of the provisions of the UK Corporate Governance Code when assessing a company’s compliance with it.

The NAPF has also published new practical guidance for pensions funds and investors signing up to the Stewardship Code. The Stewardship Code, which is strongly backed by the NAPF, was introduced by the Financial Reporting Council in July this year, setting out good practice for institutional investors when engaging with UK listed companies.
