Display Energy Certificates for all commercial buildings: Government publishes Carbon Plan

The Government has now launched its Carbon Plan, which sets out its proposed actions and deadlines to tackle climate change over the next 5 years. One of the action points is to extend Display Energy Certificates, which show the actual energy used in a building, to all commercial buildings by October 2012. Currently DECs are only required for buildings occupied by public authorities, such as central and local government buildings, schools and police stations, and buildings frequently visited by the public, such as hospitals, public libraries and museums.
