Facilitating enforcement of the Environmental Liability Directive - a new study for the European Commission

The importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values

We are very pleased to announce that our environmental law consultant, Valerie Fogleman, has completed a study for the European Commission on the Environmental Liability Directive (ELD).

The ELD established a framework of liability to prevent and remedy environmental damage.

The study, entitled "Facilitating Enforcement of the ELD by Competent Authorities" includes a final report and reports for all 27 Member States. A copy of the report can be found here.

The project is the seventh project that Valerie has authored or co-authored for the Commission on the ELD.

Valerie also gave a presentation and case study on the ELD at a training workshop for judges in EU environmental law organised by the European Judicial Training Network in Trier, Germany, on 27-28 September. The workshop included judges from Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden.
