Minimum wage set to increase from 1 April 2018

The annual increase to the minimum wage rates are due to take effect from 1 April 2018 as follows:

  • The National Living Wage for workers aged 25+ is set to increase from £7.50 per hour to £7.83 per hour;
  • For workers aged between 21 – 24, the current rate of £7.05 per hour will increase to £7.38 per hour;
  • For workers aged between 18 – 20, the current rate of £5.60 per hour will increase to £5.90 per hour;
  • For workers aged below 18, the current rate of £4.05 per hour will increase to £4.20 per hour; and
  • For apprentices, the current rate of £3.50 per hour will increase to £3.70 per hour.

The accommodation offset ( the amount an employer is entitled to deduct from an employee where accommodation is provided) will increase from £6.40 per day to £7.00 per day.
