Jake advises on both contentious and non-contentious construction law.
Jake joined Stevens & Bolton in 2023, having trained and worked at City law firms, qualifying in 2022. Prior to this, Jake had a legal role in-house at an environmental consulting company.
Jake has a wide variety of experience and specialises in all forms of dispute resolution, including court proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC), arbitration, adjudication and mediation. As for non-contentious experience, he has drafted and negotiated a wide range of construction documents such as professional appointments, building contracts, collateral warranties and letters of reliance.
Jake advises contractors, subcontractors, developers, government agencies and consultants.
Recent highlights include:
- Acting for a main contractor in an adjudication for extension of time
- Advising an employer on the validity of pay less notices under a design and build contract and advising in relation to contractor insolvency
- Representing a subcontractor in adjudication and subsequent TCC enforcement proceedings against a main contractor for non-payment
- Preparing major standard domestic and international forms of construction contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC), appointments, warranties and letters of reliance for clients
