Mediation before litigation: family court rules change

Mediation before litigation: family court rules change

From today, divorcing or separating couples wishing to apply to the court for orders to resolve disputes about finances or children, will need to attend a meeting with a mediator to consider whether that dispute could be better dealt with through mediation. It is hoped that the change will free up precious court time and resources, with more couples pursuing mediation as a viable and more amicable alternative to litigation.
