Deal news: Advising Zenitech on its investment from Sovereign Capital Partners

Stevens & Bolton LLP has advised UK fine wine importer Flint Wines on its acquisition of Burgundy specialist Domaine Direct. The acquisition has been made through its Stannary Wine retail arm, which focusses on sales to private customers.

Flint Wines supplies the UK’s top restaurants and wine merchants, specialising in Burgundy and America’s West Coast and working directly with over 100 producers across the world. Independent wholesaler Domaine Direct, founded by Hilary Gibbs in 1981, sells to a premium and dynamic portfolio throughout the UK, importing from over 80 producers predominantly from its specialist area of Burgundy.

Flint Wines has enjoyed significant organic growth over the last three years and this acquisition will provide opportunity for further expansion and development, whilst creating one of the UK’s most extensive collections of Burgundy wines.

Sam Clarke, founder of Flint Wines commented: “We are delighted that the Domaine Direct business is now part of the Flint Wines family and look forward to building on Hilary Gibbs’ considerable achievements. Working to a tight deadline, Stevens and Bolton's help was hugely valuable in achieving our aims."

The Stevens & Bolton team was led by corporate partner Richard Baxter.
