Corporate partner Nick Atkins has been recognised in this year’s Lawyer Hot 100 list.
The Lawyer Hot 100, which is published annually every January, recognises the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar.
Nick is a highly experienced corporate partner who specialises in M&A, growth capital and corporate advisory work. He works across a number of sectors, with particular experience in technology, media, leisure and logistics businesses and cross-border transactions.
The Lawyer highlighted Nick’s dedication to steering the next generation of budding entrepreneurs through a partnership with the University of Surrey, whereby Nick hosted start-up clinics with hundreds of graduates and post-graduates to help them develop their entrepreneurial business ideas – whilst exposing them to the practice of listening to and advising clients. Due to its incredible success, this partnership has now flourished into the firm supporting the University on a variety of pro-bono and ESG activities, including engaging with the University’s Access to Justice Clinic; providing legal confidence sessions to displaced young people through the Junior Lawyers Against Poverty initiative; and working on the Surrey Law and Technology Hub’s sustainability research project.
Over the past year, Nick has advised German group Drees & Sommer on its purchase of UK construction consultancy AA Projects, as well as Spanish private equity house EfectoLed on its acquisition of Lyco Group. On the tech side, he has spearheaded multiple fundraisings and a recent debt raise for augmented reality business Immersive Gamebox.
Nick has also been heavily involved in the firm’s recently-launched CoSec service that provides secretarial support to clients for an annual subscription, shouldering the administrative burden that comes with running a business, by providing services that includes unlimited Companies House filings each year and automated document production. Despite being in early stages, more than 100 clients have already signed-up.
