Stevens & Bolton is delighted to announce that it is supporting Guildford Borough Council on its new scale-up business initiative ‘Guildford Business Growth’, a free advice and support service for entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in the borough, run in partnership with Enterprise M3 Growth Hub and BE Group.
The initiative is part of the Council’s wider Business Innovation Programme to engage and support fast growth businesses in the borough. The economy of Guildford alone contributes £5.2bn of GDP to the UK Exchequer each year. The programme will connect with Guildford’s innovative businesses and provide support to their development.
The initiative offers a free-of-charge service, which includes face-to-face monthly clinics, telephone advice and a number of workshops throughout the year on topics tailored to a variety of business needs. There will also be flagship Business Forum held in Spring 2019, with the theme of scale-up and managing fast business growth.
As well as sponsorship, Stevens & Bolton will provide in-kind value to the programme, including contribution to the shaping of the programme and participation in the clinics and workshops.
Nick Atkins, Head of the Stevens & Bolton Entrepreneurs sector group, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for S&B to support local, national and international entrepreneurs, start-up and scale-up businesses based, or looking to be based, in our home borough of Guildford. This town and its surrounds contributes so much to the South East economy and is one of the UK’s bright spots for innovation. We count ourselves very fortunate to be based in such a thriving locality and are looking forward to supporting and adding value to growing businesses within our local economy.”
Chris Burchell, Local Economy Manager at Guildford Borough Council added: ‘We’re thrilled to have Stevens & Bolton on-board supporting our innovative new free business advice service ‘Guildford Business Growth’ run in partnership with the Enterprise M3 Growth Hub. The borough’s economy is now worth over £5billion and boasts an impressive survival rate for new business start-ups at 72% (source UK business counts). The success of the economy has benefited from a number of high growth sectors including ICT/mobile technologies, digital games, cyber security and satellite technologies. The Council encourages sustainable and proportionate economic growth in order to provide the jobs people need whilst attracting and retaining new business in the town and this is clearly reflected in our Guildford Business Growth service.”
