Deal news: Sonardyne International acquisition of maritime engineering group EIVA

Stevens & Bolton LLP has advised leading subsea technology developer Sonardyne International Ltd, on its acquisition of maritime software and equipment specialist EIVA Holding A/S and its subsidiary, EIVA A/S.

The acquisition represents the latest step in Sonardyne’s long-term growth strategy of diversification into those markets where it sees an opportunity to build on its core technology base and expertise in underwater acoustic and optical communications, remote and unmanned navigation, as well as autonomous monitoring systems.

EIVA is a Danish engineering company with more than 40 years’ experience in the development and delivery of solutions to offshore and shallow water engineering and survey industries. They provide software, equipment and integrated system solutions to maritime operators around the world. EIVA will join the Sonardyne group of companies, while remaining an independent business and brand.

Sonardyne’s Investment & Integration Director, and now Chairman at EIVA, Stephen Fasham commented: “Both parties quickly recognised EIVA to be an ideal match, culturally, technically and commercially with Sonardyne. The Stevens & Bolton team supported us every step of the way, keeping pace with a timetable that set out to close the purchase within a matter of weeks, and made all the more ambitious thanks to the international dimension of the acquisition.”

The Stevens & Bolton team was led by corporate partner Jenny Robertson, supported by Sam Salter-Galbraith (corporate) and Maliha Carey (commercial), in addition to working alongside Nikolaj Juhl Hansen, Tom Froberg and Søren Theilgaard from Danish law firm Magnusson.

Stevens & Bolton also supported Sonardyne last year on their acquisition of maritime and marine science technology specialist, Chelsea Technologies Group Ltd.
