On 29 May 2020 the Chancellor announced the Government’s plans for winding down the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Employers will be pleased to have more flexibility under the scheme from 1 July, but will soon bear greater costs due to a tapering of the grant and will need to plan for the closure of the scheme on 31 October.
