As we embark on 2019, we wanted to take the opportunity to look back on another busy year in 2018 and to thank all our clients and referrers for their support during the last 12 months. The team closed deals with an aggregate value of more than £3 billion in 2018 and supported our clients across a wide variety of industries, sectors and locations. Over a third of our deals involved an international or cross-border element.
During the year our M&A team won ‘Corporate law firm of the year’ at the 2018 South East Dealmakers Awards, was shortlisted for UK M&A team of the year (medium-sized deal) in the 2018 British Legal Awards and for the fifth time was ranked ‘National Leaders outside of London’ by Chambers UK. Our large team of over 25 specialist M&A lawyers is supported by high quality expertise covering banking and finance, tax, real estate, employment, pensions, competition, commercial, IT, IP and regulatory.
Head of Stevens & Bolton's M&A practice, James Waddell, commented: “The team has had another great year, featuring in the top 10 law firms for deal activity in the South East in the recent Experian MarketIQ M&A report for 2018. With some exciting mandates and new joiners to further strengthen our team, we have kicked off 2019 in optimistic mood, despite the political uncertainty affecting the UK and international markets. We look forward confidently to lots more deal-doing in 2019, and would like to thank all our clients and referrers for their instructions over the last 12 months.”
