Kate is an IP specialist with particular experience in licensing, dispute resolution and transactional matters.
Kate joined Stevens & Bolton in 2017 as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the intellectual property team in 2019.
Kate advises individuals, SMEs, and multinational corporations on the protection and exploitation of the full spectrum of intellectual property rights. She has a particular interest in the life sciences sector and she regularly advises on and negotiates patent and know-how licence agreements. Her contentious experience includes disputes relating to trade marks, passing off, copyright and breach of confidence.
Recent highlights include:
- Supporting a global biotechnology company in preparing, advising on, and negotiating licences related to gene expression technology patents and know-how
- Acting for a UK and international franchise company in relation to a registered trade mark infringement, copyright infringement and passing off dispute with a competitor that subsequently re-branded its business and removed infringing content from its website
- Drafting and advising on deeds of assignment in respect of key intellectual property rights for a London-based private equity firm in the context of an asset acquisition
Kate has written articles for a number of legal and industry publications including Pharmaceutical Market Europe (PMLiVE), ITProPortal and Intellectual Property Magazine.
